Emptiness....

It had been a few hours since I had moved from my spot in the games room. I felt that I should just act normal because, if I hid then I would just get more people asking questions and that seriously would not be good. I was sat on my bed in the corner Jeb had put it there incase anyone came looking for me then I would be harder to get to with Snowie there. This room felt so empty without Becca...

Jared walked into Snowie,Becca and Wanda's room. Ever since Becca had gone missing, he hadn't seen much of the other two. He sat just inside the screen blocking their room from the bigger one ourside. Wanda was the only one in here. "Hey, Wanda." He smiled. That was a nickname Becca had come up with. He missed Becca; she was like his little sister.

When Jared came in, I held my breath. Was he going to ask me about saving the others? I wasn't sure but I just said, "Hello, Jared" Without looking up. I had pulled my legs up and my head was resting on my knees. That explained why I hadn't heard or seen him come in.

Jared decided to kill the elephant in the room quickly. "So.. Cerdd was talking to me -in English.. which was weird-..." He started, awkwardly.

I lifted my head and showed him that I wanted him to carry on by showing interest. I really didn't know what was coming next..

Jared met Wanderer's eyes. "She told me about your conversation. That... you knew of a way to get them back?"

I swallowed the lump that had just appeared in the back of my throat and nodded in agreement.

"It's okay; she also told me why you couldn't tell us. I'm not gonna ask you to tell us." Jared assured Wanderer. "Of course, things are a lot quieter around here without Becca."

I sighed, "I really miss Becca" I admitted.

"She was like my little sister." Jared agreed sadly.

I just sighed this time. I dropped my head again and started to sob silently.

Jared moved across the small space to comfort Wanderer. It was hard to believe that a few months ago, he'd tried to hurt her.

I lifted my head in time to see him cross the room. "I.. don't.. know.. what.. to.. do" I said between little hiccups.

He put a comforting arm around her shoulders. Well, Wanderer and Melanie's shoulders. "What does Mel think you should do?" Jared asked.

I tried to ignore his arm around my shoulders but I kept forgetting to. "Um..." I said and tragged it on and waited for Mel to answer...
I think you should help.. I understand about it being a secret but they are our friends.. she answered.
"She said I should help" I said aloud, looking up at him. I hadn't noticed my head had dropped and my eyes closed as me and Mel had a mental conversation.

Yup, that's my Mel. Jared thought. "Look, Wanderer, I kindof get where you're coming from, but I agree with Mel. I mean, what happens next time someone goes missing? It could be Trudy or Ian or.. Snowie?" He murmured, getting quieter at the end.

I shook my head, "I know but I would be betraying my whole race like I told Cerdd earlier. I don't know what to do..." I said, rocking back and forth slightly, blinking hard to hold back the tears.

"I know." Jared smiled sadly. "If only there was a way to help both races," He murmured, not realising that that was what Cerdd had said to her.

I lifted my head instantly. I had just gotten an idea. I pulled a strand of hair back from my face. I had to keep moving it because it just came back in my face everytime I let go.

Jared jumped a little at Wanda's sudden movement. "Wanda?" He said cautiously, in a what's-wrong tone.

"I..I.. Know what to do.." I answered, finally getting that piece of hair to stay. My hair was growing and was now a little below my shoulders.

Jared was still cautious. Had she chosen to leave them? No, she couldn't leave Jamie. Jared knew that. "And..?" He pressed.

"I know how to save both races" I answered him, blinking in suprise.

Jared just watched her with raised eyebrows. When she didn't carry on, he pressed for more. "How?"

"I can.. uh.. get them out.. of the.. uh.. humans and.. uh.. send them off-planet so both races are... um.. saved" I said, a little hesitant.
