"No." Jared answered slowly. "But like I said. There wasn't that much. They're alive. I'm sure of it."

"Uh.. okay" I said, taking a deep breath and standing up before swaying dizzily and having to grab hold of a rock forr support. I held my hand out to Jared.

Jared chuckled but didn't take her hand this time. She looked a little unsteady to him, so he pulled himself up and offered his hand for support.

I took his hand and let go of the wall. Melanie sighed in my head. She felt left out and tired. I sighed out loud for Melanie.

"Nothing. Melanie is exhausted and that kinda makes me exhausted I suppose" I said, squinting at the light of the entrance.

"Oh," Jared smiled. Maybe he'd be able to convince her to just tell them where to get the cryotanks and they could stay here.

"mmm..." I mumbled. I thought a lot about the blood. It might by coyotes? some kind of desert animal? "Do you think the ..blood.. belonged to some sort of desert animal?" I asked.

"It's possible, I guess. But there's really not much out there to bleed." Jared answered honestly.

Oh, that was easy.. ish. "At first, yes. But not any more." Jared smiled. "We're all used to you now, Wanda. You and Mel are a package deal and I get that but it's also easy to separate the two of you. And.." Jared felt a little stupid saying this. "it's not just Mel I was talking to when I said I wouldn't let anything hurt you."

"Mel, give Wanda a break." Jared chuckled. "She's had grief from you for the past two days." He was joking, but maybe Mel should calm down a little before Wanda passed out again.
