Soccer (Open)

It was time for a soccer tournament that we'd planned ages ago but all our best players were out on a raid. Jared, Ian and Kyle. We still went ahead with it, though. When I wandered into the game room, about half of the population of the caves were there, the lamps in each corner and a few of the boys were practising against each other.

I was sat beside a lamp in the games room, I didn't really like football but I didn't want to sit and think. I had become pretty unapproachable the last couple of days, alienated. I didn't bother putting on a smile for the guys, so it was my usual scowl.

I skipped over to Jamie and stole the ball, dribbling around a couple more of the boys and scored between two of the lanterns. "She shoots, she scores!"

I had to smile at the little girl beating the two boys. I chuckled and clapped a few times.

"Girl power!" I yelled, giggling. I skipped over to Sharon and held my hand out for a fistbump.

I smiled bumping her fist, then taking it into a thumbwar. I couldn't even remember who I made that up with. "What's your name?" I nodded to the girl, I liked her, more than most people.

I wasn't surprised when she asked my name. I stayed quiet usually, unless I was playing or talking to Jaden. I learned everyone's names -even the ones who had been missing when we arrived- but people rarely knew my name. Jaden and Jeb were the only ones, I think. I laughed. "I'm Catherina Siena Romana." I answered in my thick Italian accent. "But everyone calls me Cat or Rina."

"I'm not suprised you have nicknames. Well, Im Shazza or Shaz. I used to be Shh cause I talked alot. Not any more though." I sighed. I used to be wild, now I'm just mild.

I smiled. "Nizza per incontrarvi." My smile grew wider. "Nice to meet you. Are you going to come play foo- uh.. soccer with us?" I looked at the door to see a few more of the guys come in, along with Jaden.

"Im good here, ragazza." I used my exteremly little italian with a smile.

"Are you sure? It's fun. And I could definately use some help with the guys." I smiled.

"Yeah, I'll keep score or somthing." I smiled back to her.

"'Kay." I smiled skipping off to Jaden's side. He was standing with Brandt who kindof scared me so I half stood behind Jaden.

I laughed at her hiding, and found a whistle in the corner of the room. I blew the whistle and the game started.

Aaron and Brandt were named the captains. People were chosen for each team and I was chosen for Brandt's team along with Jamie, Trudy, Maggie in goal and a few others. Jaden was on the opposing team.

I facepalmed at Mom in goal's and got ready for kick off.

Jeb was in the opposite goal so it was kinda fair. We flipped a coin and Aaron's team got kickoff. I was quite glad I was on Brandt's team 'cause if he was running at me to get the ball, I'd let him have it.

Jamie passed to Brandt who passed back to Jamie who shot and scored. I gave Jeb an ashamed look and gave Brandt's team one mark on the chalk board.

I laughed and gave Jamie a high-five when he scored. Jaden had the ball and he was running down 'field' with it. I intercepted and ran up toward Jeb and our goal again. I passed to Jamie, weaved around two of the other team's players and recieved the ball from Jamie again. Man, Jamie was good. I shot at the goal and scored, earning another high-five from Jamie. Then it was Aaron's turn to be good. He dribbled down'field' toward Maggie all on his own and scored.

I think that after two goals Aaron got a but competitive and hogged the ball all to himself. But he was so good, he got away with it. The match was truning out better than I expected.

There wasn't another goal for a while. There were a few close ones for each team but the opposing team stole the ball just in time. Aaron's team scored again. It was a draw. The thing with this game of soccer is that there wasn't a time limit like the ones outside of the caves. We'd just play until we all got tired.

I laughed when they all gave up, "You did good, cookie." I smiled to Cat, giving her a nickname for her collection.

I skipped over to Sharon, smiling. "Grazie." I held two water bottles and held one out for her.

"Nessun problema." I grinned back. I got myself off the floor and dusted myself off.

I grinned at her using my language. "So how much Italian do you know?" I asked, taking a sip of water.
